The Great Book of Nature - THE CAT
Episode Summary:
Boasting about its great ability to catch rats, a cat assures a dog that
it’s capable of guarding the barn full of winter supplies on its own,
and so sends the dog to the woods to collect firewood. The rats take
advantage of the cat’s overconfidence to play a trick on it. Thinking it
has nothing to fear, the cat goes fishing and eats so much that it
falls into a deep sleep, leaving the barn unguarded. The rats tie up the
cat and clean out the barn! The dog returns from the woods, hears
unexpected noises, and discovers the theft! At this point, there is only
one thing to do: think about what has happened and try to learn an
important lesson: it never pays to boast! The cat promises to refrain
from arrogance and overconfidence in the future, and not to overestimate
its ability as a rat catcher.
