The Great Book of Nature - THE PIG
Episode Summary:
In the first part of the episode, a pig volunteers to help a gardener
and a goat to keep the public gardens clean. In return, the gardener
gives him one of the last two tickets for a soccer match. When he
returns home, the pig starts to tidy up his room and empties the
wastebasket out of the window, unaware that his ticket is in it. The
pig’s friend, a cat, finds the ticket and decides to keep it. When he
can’t find his ticket the pig runs back to the gardens and turns the
place upside down. The gardener is furious, but he decides to forgive
the pig and gives him the other ticket to the match on the provision
that he return for the purpose of tidying up the mess he’d made at the
end of the game. And so the cat and the pig go to the stadium and enjoy
the game together. In the second part, a family of pigs is out
harvesting pumpkins. However, when father pig can’t get the fruit to
fall off the plant without having it smash to little hits the ground,
the youngest piglet comes up with a very simple, but effective method to
address this problem. By gathering the fruit carefully, and then tying
the pumpkins to a rope and letting them slide gently to the ground, they
no longer break. The method works and the family gathers all the
pumpkins unscathed, and then load them onto a cart. At this point
however, their enthusiasm gets the better of them, and they lose control
of a cart going downhill. The cart overturns, and the pumpkins are
smashed and spoiled such that all their hard work and effort has gone to
waste!
